The basics

What is Meetle?

Meetle is a random one-on-one conversation with a stranger. You're paired with one person and talk in text first; voice and video happen only if you both choose them, and video starts covered. If you both tap Keep in touch, you can talk again any time — if only one of you does, nothing happens and nobody finds out. You sign in with Google, Discord or GitHub, pick a username, and that's your whole profile. It's 18+.

What does "talk first, match later" mean?

It means the conversation comes before everything else. Everywhere else you match first — a photo, a swipe, a bio — and maybe talk later. On Meetle you talk to a stranger with no profile in the way, and the match comes after, only if you both want it: if you both tap Keep in touch, you can talk again any time. Voice and video work the same way — they happen only if you both choose them. Keeping in touch is blind: nobody is asked, nobody is told, nobody is turned down.

Who is Meetle for?

Anyone 18 or over who wants a real conversation with a stranger without having to be on camera, is tired of profiles and swiping, and would like a way to keep the rare good one. It isn't for you if you want to go straight to camera with strangers (here, text comes first and video starts covered), want to stay fully anonymous with no sign-in (Meetle needs an account), are looking for a dating app with photos (there are no photos), or are under 18.

Is Meetle free?

Yes. No card, no plan, nothing to unlock: you sign in with Google, Discord or GitHub and pick a username. Joining the waitlist is free too.

Do I need an account to use Meetle? Why?

Yes. You sign in with Google, Discord or GitHub. We get the email on that account and store the username you choose. The provider also passes along what it shares by default, usually your name and a link to your profile picture; we never show or use either. We don't ask for a birthday or location. The account isn't there to make you jump through hoops — it's so there's a real account behind every username, not a browser tab someone can just reopen. Strangers never see it.

When can I use Meetle?

Not quite yet. The app runs, but it isn't open to the public — we're letting people in from the waitlist in waves. Join it with your email and you'll get one message when it's your turn. We'd rather tell you a real date than a hopeful one, so we're not naming one.

Privacy and safety

Is Meetle anonymous?

To the people you talk to, yes: they see your username and nothing else — no email, no name, no photo, no account. Your voice and your face stay yours unless you both choose voice or video, and video starts covered. To Meetle, no: you sign in with a real account. Think of it as pseudonymous, not anonymous.

Do I need a profile?

No. Your username (3–20 characters, letters, numbers, underscores) is your whole profile. There's no bio, no photos, no interests to pick and no page anyone can browse. The first thing a stranger learns about you is what you type.

Does Meetle save my chats?

Conversations with strangers: never. They're relayed live through our server's memory and written nowhere — no history, no scrollback, nothing on disk. Voice and video aren't recorded either. When the conversation ends, it's gone. Conversations with people you kept: yes, those are saved so you can both pick up later. That's the only place Meetle keeps messages.

What happens when I report someone?

We ask what happened, with one-tap answers — or tap Just get me out. Either way the conversation ends immediately, the report is recorded, and you're back at the start. On their side it looks exactly like you left. Because we don't keep stranger conversations, the report doesn't include what was said. Nobody is banned yet — bans for accounts that keep getting reported are on the roadmap.

Is Meetle 18+? Can teens use it?

Meetle is 18+ only. You tick "I'm 18 or over" before Start talking turns on. It's a promise you make, not a document check, and we're upfront about that — but it's a firm rule, and accounts found to be under 18 are removed. If you're under 18, Meetle isn't for you.

Is Meetle safe?

Safer than a blank anonymous box, by design. Everyone signs in with a real account and says they're 18 or over. Strangers only see a username. Voice and video only happen if you both choose them, and video starts covered. Stranger conversations are never stored. Leave takes one tap. Report takes two, and neither needs an explanation. What we can't do is vet people before they talk to you — so keep your details to yourself until you'd share them in real life. The Safety page has the full picture.

Why does every conversation start in text?

Because text asks the least of you. Nobody sees your face or your room, nobody can record them or flash you, and there's no face to be judged on — you can think before you reply and be read for what you actually say. Text isn't risk-free, so keep personal details to yourself and use Report if you need it. Anything more is up to both of you: voice and video only happen if you both choose them, and video starts covered until you both uncover it.

Matching and keeping in touch

How does matching work on Meetle?

Tick "I'm 18 or over", tap Start talking, and you'll see "Finding someone who wants to talk" while we pair you with whoever's been waiting longest — no filters, no algorithm. Each conversation is with one person. Leave whenever you like and tap Talk to someone new, or Report to end it and tell us what happened.

Are there games?

Small ones, for when the first thirty seconds are awkward: question cards, Four in a Row, In Sync, One Word Story and tic-tac-toe. Tap Play something and pick one. Nothing starts until the other person taps Play, the game sits beside the chat rather than over it, and either of you can put it away any time.

How do I keep in touch with someone on Meetle?

During the conversation, tap Keep in touch. The other person is told nothing — their screen doesn't change. If they tap it too, you both see "You and maya_reads kept each other — you can talk again any time." and they appear in The people you kept, where what you send each other is private and saved. If they never tap it, nothing happens. There's no accepting or declining and no list of people waiting on you. It's mutual or it's nothing.

Will the other person know if I keep them?

No. Nothing is shown to them unless it becomes mutual. Their chip still says Keep in touch, exactly as if you'd never tapped yours — and you'll never know whether they tapped theirs unless you both did.

Can I remove someone I kept?

Yes. Open your conversation with them and choose Remove from Kept. You leave each other's lists, and nobody gets a message about it.

Meetle and everything else

Does Meetle have video or voice chat?

Yes, but only when you both want it. Every conversation starts in text, and it can stay there. Voice happens only if you both choose it. Video too, and it starts covered for both of you: it uncovers only when you both tap, and either of you can cover it again, instantly. Nothing is recorded.

Can I use Meetle on my phone? Do I need to download an app?

Meetle runs in your browser, on your phone or your computer. There's nothing to download from a store, and if you like, you can add it to your home screen like an app.

Is Meetle the same as the "Meetle: Video Chat & Meet" app on Google Play?

No. That Android app is not affiliated with us. Meetle at meetle.org requires sign-in, starts every conversation in text, and only uses video when both people choose it, starting covered. There's no Meetle app in any store — it runs in your browser.
