Terms of Service

Draft — needs legal review before launch. Written in plain English by the people who build Meetle. Using Meetle means you agree to these. They're short on purpose.

Last updated , for voice and video and for Keep in touch.

The rules are short because there aren't many: be an adult, be decent, and don't break things.

The short version

  • Be 18 or older.
  • One person, one account, signed in with a real Google, Discord or GitHub account.
  • Be decent to strangers. Report the ones who aren't.
  • We can remove accounts that break these rules.
  • Meetle is new and provided as-is.

1. You're 18 or older

Meetle is for adults only. By ticking the 18+ box and starting a chat you're telling us that's true. If it isn't, don't use Meetle. If we find out an account belongs to someone under 18, we'll remove it.

2. Your account

You sign in with Google, Discord or GitHub and pick a username of 3–20 letters, numbers or underscores. Pick something you'd be fine with a stranger seeing. Your username can't impersonate someone else, contain slurs, or pretend to be Meetle staff; we may change or reclaim one that does. One person, one account. Don't make accounts to get around a removal, and don't share yours.

3. How to behave

Talk to people the way you'd want to be talked to. Specifically, don't:

  • harass, threaten, stalk or bully anyone, or target people for who they are;
  • pressure anyone into voice or video, or record, screenshot or share someone's voice, video or face without their say-so;
  • send sexual content to someone who hasn't clearly asked for it, or anything sexual involving minors — ever. We'll report it;
  • ask for money, gift cards, crypto, codes, or anything that looks like a scam;
  • spam, advertise, run bots or scripts, or try to break, overload or reverse-engineer the service;
  • pretend to be someone you're not, or share anyone's private information;
  • try to find out who a stranger is, or share their username outside Meetle to embarrass them;
  • post anything illegal;
  • be under 18, or chat with anyone you believe is.

4. Reports

Anyone can tap Report to end a chat with you instantly, no reason required. Reports are recorded. If you're reported we can look at it, and we can warn you, suspend your account or remove it for good — without notice if we need to. False reports made to harass someone are themselves a rule break. We're a small team; we'll be fair, and you can write to hello@meetle.org if you think we got it wrong.

5. Keeping in touch, and messages

You're kept only when both people tap Keep in touch. Either person can remove the other at any time, and that takes effect for both of you. What you write is yours. By sending it you give us permission to pass it to the person you're talking to and — for messages with people you kept — to store it so you can both read it later. Stranger chats are never stored. Voice and video go only to the person you're talking to, and only when you both chose them; we never record them.

6. The waitlist

Joining the waitlist gets you an email when it's your turn. It's a queue, not a guarantee of a date, and you can leave any time by emailing us.

7. What we can't promise

Meetle is new and provided as-is, without warranties of any kind. It may go down, change, or lose in-progress chats (chats with strangers are designed to vanish anyway). We can't control what other people say to you and we're not responsible for it — but we do want to hear about it, via Report or hello@meetle.org. To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for what other users say to you, for lost data, or for any indirect damages.

8. Ending things

You can stop using Meetle any time and ask us to delete your account (see Privacy). We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and we may pause or shut Meetle down; if we do, we'll say so with as much notice as we reasonably can.

These terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction], and disputes go to the courts there. If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.

10. Changes and contact

If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll post it here and email people with accounts. Keeping on using Meetle after that means you accept the new terms. Questions: hello@meetle.org.
